|
In Germany at the beginning of the 19th Century, Edouard, a rich baron, and Charlotte fell in love with each other when they were very young. Circumstances decided that they would be exiled from each other in marriages to different people. Years later, they finally marry and together they spend their time landscaping and tending to their beautiful property. But when the Captain comes to help Edouard with his domain, and Charlotte invites her young ward, to come and stay, the laws of attraction that chemists of the time called "Elective Affinities" are too strong to ignore, destroying the harmony of two couples and creating a tempest of passion.
